Revised Edition

Description: I would rate this as the most complete book on all aspects of organic gardening in print.  Joy Larkcom is a hugely respected gardener and one of the leading writers on organic gardening who almost single-handedly initiated a revolution in salad growing and oriental varieties.

This is a wonderful book on literally all aspects of organic vegetable growing, with a particular emphasis on small gardens, it includes detailed information on preparing and looking after soil; manures, composts and fertilizers; growing techniques; pests, diseases and weeds; protection; and planning and making good use of space. The second half of the book provides cultivation information for over 100 vegetables, including site and soil requirements, cultivation, pests and diseases, and cultivars. It has excellent tables and charts to help you access information easily as well as several plans to get you started with the garden that will best suit your needs.

If you are looking through our range and trying to decide which book is for you I would say that this is a very text heavy book with plenty of good clear line drawings but no photos so sometimes I find customers in the shop are put off by the lack of colour and photos. But to my mind this is such a complete text by such an expert gardener that if you only ever purchased one book on organic gardening this really is the one.

Format: PB, 384 pp, b&w line drawings throughout
